About the Dancer Project...

I have always been captivated by the beauty of the dancer's form and

movement, but it was a year and a half ago that two young dancers came to my

studio for portraits of themselves in their dance outfits. I intended to give them

traditional, classic dance portraits, but I found myself experimenting and working

with the Photoshop and Painter techniques that I'd been teaching for a decade.

When I delivered their images, I gave them a lot more than any of us expected at

the start of that photo session. That was the beginning of this very personal, and

challenging art project. I have been working with dancers of all ages to put together

a collection of unique dancer images. This video includes some of the images from

this "work in progress" . By the way, one of the images from that very first session

with those two young dancers was published in The Professional Photographers of

America "Loan Collection Book" this year; and I am looking forward publishing the

entire, finished collection as a book in 2011.

I continue to seek out dancers as models. If you are interested

in participating in this project, please contact me.
